Talent Upload program connects prospective local IT, engineering employees with future career opportunities in Fox Cities
APPLETON, Wis. (Oct. 27, 2016) – Fox Cities Regional Partnership (FCRP), the economic development division of the Fox Cities Chamber, recently held its third annual Talent Upload event. The award-winning, all-expense-paid career exploration event hosted a total of 74 information technology (IT), computer science and engineering students from 12 universities, located throughout the state and Midwest, who had the opportunity to network with established local companies and business leaders.
Talent Upload was developed in response to the growing need among area businesses to attract entry-level IT and engineering professionals to the Fox Cities. Students who take part in the program, which has been recognized for excellence in economic development by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), learn about young professional life in the Fox Cities during panel presentations in addition to networking with area business professionals.
“One of FCRP’s primary goals is to help area employers meet their current needs to facilitate future growth,” Manny Vasquez, vice president of FCRP, said. “Talent Upload is a results-driven program that provides access to in-demand, high-quality talent to some of the region’s fastest-growing companies. We are extremely grateful to those area employers who have helped make this program a great success. This is an opportunity for all of us to showcase our region to students who might never have considered the Fox Cities before.”
The 74 students who participated in Talent Upload consisted of 38 engineering students and 36 IT students from 12 area universities: Lawrence University, Michigan Technological University, Purdue University, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, UW Oshkosh, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Platteville, UW-Stout, UW-Stevens Point and Valparaiso University.
